Spoon Cards 69 In ACC Championship First Round

NEW LONDON, N.C. - Nathan Spoon shot a 69 in the first round of the ACC Men's Golf Championship to lead NC State. Spoon, a freshman from Graham, N.C., is tied for seventh place at three strokes under par at the par 72 Old North State Golf Club at Uwharrie Point. The Wolfpack is tied for third place at four under.
Darren Blair and Stephen Lewton are tied for 12th place at one under after the first round and Jerry Richardson is tied for 28th place at one over. Garry Hill shot three over in the first round and is tied for 41st place.
Georgia Tech leads the 11-team tournament at 12 under in the first round and the Yellow Jackets' Michael Barbosa is in first place after 18 holes with a seven under. NC State tees off at 10:10 a.m. from the first tee Saturday with Clemson and Florida State for the second round. The ACC Championship concludes Sunday with a final round of 18 holes.
