Wolfpack Slides To 14th After Second Round

BATON ROUGE, La. - The NC State women's golf team slid into 14th place at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic Saturday at the par 72 University Club. The Wolfpack added five strokes to its first round score and was passed by a few teams after the second round. Molly Birmingham and Stephanie Derrey both shot five over par in the second round to lead NC State and Lorraine Ballerano has the low total for the Wolfpack at nine over.
Ballerano fired a six over in the second round and is tied for 35th place. Birmingham trails Ballerano by two strokes and is tied for 44th. Derrey improved three strokes in the second round and is 13 over for the tournament. Nancy Mountcastle and Lauren Harling are both one stroke behind Derrey.
Auburn leads the field of 18 by two strokes at 10 over and Melissa Eaton from LSU carded a second round 66 to take over first place individually at five under.
