
Derrey Ties For 11th At Lady Gamecock Classic

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - Stephanie Derrey shot one over par in the final round of the Lady Gamecock Classic on Sunday to lead the NC State women's golf team to a sixth place finish. Derrey, who also shot one over in the second round, finished tied for 11th place individually at eight over on South Carolina's par 72 University Course.
Nancy Mountcastle tied for 17th at 10 over. She sandwiched an even par second round between 77s. Lorraine Ballerano and Molly Birmingham both tied for 22nd at 12 over. Birmingham shot even par in the second round and Ballerano fired one over on the first day. Jessica Vincent also competed for the Wolfpack and Lauren Doughtie played as an individual.
Auburn won the three-day, 54-hole, 11-team tournament by 18 strokes at 15 over and the Tigers' Maria Martinez was the individual medalist at five under.
