Ballerano Shoots One Over, Tied For Third

Lorraine Ballerano shot one over par in the first round of the Lady Gamecock Classic to lead the NC State women's golf team Friday at South Carolina's par 72 University Course. Ballerano is tied for third place and the Wolfpack is tied for sixth at 17 over.
Nancy Mountcastle and Molly Birmingham are tied for 18th at five over and Stephanie Derrey is one stroke behind them and tied for 27th. Jessica Vincent fired a seven over in the first round and is tied for 37th. Lauren Doughtie is competing as an individual.
Tennessee leads the field of 11 at 12 over and Caroline Westrup from Florida State is in first place individually at two under. Action continues Saturday with a second round of 18 holes and the tournament concludes Sunday with the final round.
