Gymnastics Places Third at Governor's Cup

College Park, Md. - The NC State gymnastics team finished third at the annual Governor's Cup at Maryland with a season-high team score of 192.250. No. 25 North Carolina won the meet with a score of 195.050, followed by the host Terrapins with a 192.375, and Towson took fourth with a 191.300.
NC State notched its highest team score of the day on vault with a 48.775. Junior Rachel Katz led the was with her score of 9.85 for third place. Sophomore Leigha Hancock was close behind with her 9.825 for seventh place, and junior Katie Ozburn was 10th with a 9.75.
The Pack also performed well on bars, with a team score of 48.050, and a pair of NC State gymnasts tying for second place. Both senior Kylah Bachman and freshman Elyse Adams notched scores of 9.775 and were in second place.
After struggling the first three three meets of the season on beam, NC State scored a 48.350 on the day. Sophomore classmates Hancock and Heather Zolton had the Pack's best scores on beam, each scoring a 9.725 and tying for fifth place. Ozburn and freshman Dru Davis also had top-10 finishes, tying for ninth with a 9.675.
NC State struggles on floor, coming away with a team score of 47.075. Zolton was the top scorer with her 9.75 for sixth place, while Bachman was eighth with a 9.725.
In the all-around, Bachman was fourth with her 38.650, while Zolton took sixth with a 38.400.
NC State will return to home action next Friday night and host the annual Hearts Invitational. The Wolfpack will host Auburn, James Madison, and William & Mary at Reynolds Coliseum at 7:00 p.m.
