Women's Swimming Winds Up Eighth at ACC Championships

The Wolfpack Women's Swimming and Diving team wrapped up their eighth place finish in the ACC Championships behind superb performances from two of the Pack's seasoned veterans. Lindsay Barwegen and Jess Koenig both came up big for the Wolfpack in the final day of competition to help the team cement their position at 206.5 points in front of Georgia Tech, Duke, and Boston College.
Barwegen went the distance in the 1650 Freestyle in an NCAA "B" Cut time of 16:48.54. Her swim gave her a seventh place finish and the team a much needed boost in the point column. Barwegen also brought home a tenth place finish in the 200 Butterfly event with at time of 2:05.07.
Koenig swam a quick time in the 200 Backstroke finals that put her in thirteenth for the event. She swam her season best in the event, a time of 2:03.06.
Freshman Lucy Lindsey also nabbed a thirteenth place finish in the 100 Freestyle. She finished with a time of 51.45 seconds just two spots ahead of teammate Kerry Whitson who finished with a time of 51.54 seconds.
Senior diver Molly Culberson performed well in the final day of competition at the ACC Championships. She pulled in a second place performance on the platform event scoring 234.90 in an event that the Pack has not competed in this season.
The ACC Championship went to the Seminoles of Florida State who finished with 596.5 points just ahead of Virginia (562) and North Carolina (517). The Men's ACC Championships begin this Thursday in College Park, Maryland with a full slate of events scheduled through Saturday.
