Gymnastics Finishes Second in Flip for a Cure

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State gymnastics team finished second in the Flip for a Cure meet Sunday afternoon at the RBC Center. The Wolfpack (8-5) notched a team score of 191.200. No. 5 Florida won the meet with a 195.950, and William & Mary placed third with a 186.725. All proceeds from the meet went to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
NC State started the meet on vault, and had to count a fall and notched a team score of 47.700. Junior Katie Ozburn and sophomore Leigha Hancock tied for seventh with their scores of 9.725. Senior Kylah Bachman had a 9.55, and sophomore Heather Zolton recorded a 9.5.
The Pack also struggled on vault, posting a team score of 47.750. Zolton was the Pack's top finisher with her 9.75 for a fourth place finish. Junior Amanda Jones was close behind with her 9.7 for sixth place, and Katz scored a 9.675 and was seventh.
Over on beam State had multiple falls and finished with a team score of 47.375. Hancock had another outstanding performance on beam with a 9.8 for second. Jones also was strong on her second event, with a 9.7 for sixth
NC State posted its top team score of the day with a 48.375. Bachman lead NC State with her score of 9.8 for a third showing. Zolton posted a 9.775 and was sixthle freshman Ashley Shepard scored a 9.7 for eighth and sophomore Kelsey Lee was ninth with a 9.675.
NC State returns to home action this weekend with a meet Friday night. The Wolfpack will take on George Washington, Denver and North Carolina this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
