The NC State women's swimming and diving team is headed to College Park, Md. to compete in the ACC Championships. The meet runs February 15-18 and features some of the top athletes in collegiate swimming. The women (3-6, 1-5 ACC) finished eighth last season at the championships and will look to ride strong individual performances into the upper half of the league this postseason. Molly Culberson, Jessica Koenig, Lindsay Barwegen and Erica Smith take ACC top times into the championship meet.
Culberson will look to medal in her final ACC Championships, a year after making the NCAA Regional Diving Zones with a clutch performance. She is certainly a favorite to medal, as Culberson currently holds the top 1-meter (319.84) and is second in the 3-meter (357.60) in the conference heading into the Championships.
Koenig has been a standout each year for the Wolfpack, winning the teams Hardest Worker award and constantly ranking high in the backstroke and individual medley events. This year is no exception, as she is eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:03.73) and seventh in the 400 IM with a time of 4:25.65. The 200 backstroke time is a personal best for Koenig.
Lindsay Barwegen continues to prove herself as one of the top distance swimmers in the ACC, and she currently is eighth with a time of 10:04.90.
Freshmen have proved invaluable to the team this season, as Erica Smith holds a top-10 time in the 100 backstroke with a 57.91.
