Despite allowing just one run, NC State fell to 1-3 early in the season to Miami (Ohio), 1-0. The Wolfpack, despite allowing just five runs over the first four games, couldn't muster enough offense in the final game of the evening at the Tiger Invitational. The final game for the team will be at 9 am central time in Auburn, Ala. against Minnesota.
Brooke Isley took the loss for NC State, as she lasted a third of an inning and allowed a solo home run to the Miami leadoff batter. Shaina Ervin came in to pitch in relief and completed 6 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out eight batters.
Gelbard led off the top of the first with a double to centerfield and Miranda Ervin had the other hit for the Pack.
The game was played at 7 pm local time, and for a good three innings a steady light snow fell and winds gusted 15-25 miles-per-hour.
