RALEIGH, N.C. - Kody Hamrah got a pin in 30 seconds and NC State won six of 10 bouts Saturday to lift the Wolfpack past Virginia 22-12 in Atlantic Coast Conference wrestling at Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack (10-4-1, 2-1-1 ACC), which never trailed in the team scoring, jumped to a 6-3 lead after the first three bouts, then blew the match open on but Joe Caramanica's 13-2 major decision over Drew DiPasquale at 149 and Hamarah's pin of Mike Sewell at 157 pounds. That gave NC State a 16-3 lead with four bouts to go. Ryan Goodman's 5-2 decision over Brent Jones at 197 technically clinched the bout for the Pack.
Virginia dropped to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in the ACC.
