Men's Swimming Finishes Second at Terrapin Cup Invite

The men's swimming team finished second at the Terrapin Cup Invite on Saturday, November 18, in College Park, Md. with a team score of 721. Andrew Lester won the 1650 freestyle in a time of 15:47.39, the fifth fastest time in the ACC to get things going early on.
Teammate Cole Yarborough swam a 16:16.51 to finish eighth in the 1650 freestyle.
Stephen Mellor continued to be a standout swimmer in the ACC, winning the 200 backstroke, his signature event, in a time of 1:46.27, a time that would rank third all-time at NC State for the school record holder. Mellor's time also improved on his current fastest time in the ACC in the event this season.
Kevin Woodhull-Smith finished in eighth with a 1:53.09 in the same event.
Taylor Goodwin finished eighth in the 100 freestyle, and his prelim time from earlier in the day placed him among the top-10 swimmers in the ACC for the event.
Mason McGee and Travis Martinez finished 10th and 11th in the event.
In the 200 breaststroke, Jack Roney finished fifth with a 2:03.49, but his prelim time of 2:03.17 was even better, and ranks third currently in the ACC top-10. Danny Voss finished seventh for the Pack and former Wolfpack swimmer Dan Velez finished second in the event.

The Wolfpack men wrapped up the invitational with a 3:05/64 in the 400 freestyle relay to take third place.
