Women's Swimming 12th at Terrapin Cup Invite

The NC State Women’s swimming and diving team scored 30 points to place 12th after the opening day of the Terrapin Cup Invitational in College Park, Md. Overall, the men’s and women’s squad combined for third in the meet after the first day of competition. The women were tough in the events on the afternoon.
In the 200 freestyle relay, the Wolfpack ‘B’ squad finished 19th with a time of 1:38.54, as Erica Smith, Chelsa Messigner, Britney Richardson and Lucy Lindsey competed in the event.
Distance freestyle specialist Lindsay Barwegen took fourth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:56.84. That time is good for seventh in the ACC and first on the team this season.
Freshman Anna Linkenauger finished first in the consolation final of the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.14, shaving nearly three seconds off of her prelim time. That time makes her the fifth fastest in school history and second fastest in the ACC this season.
The event continues through Saturday and is hosted by the Maryland Terrapins.
