The NC State softball program will host the 2006 Wolfpack Invitational Saturday, Oct. 7, through Sunday, Oct. 8 at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh, N.C. The tournament will feature 18 games between 11 teams over the two-day spread.
Aside from the Pack, 10 teams will round out the tournament field: North Carolina, Campbell, Elon, UNC Wilmington, Peace, Louisburg, Greensboro College, Pfeiffer, Chowan and Pitt Community College.
Following the Pack's game against the UNC Wilmington Seahawks on Sunday afternoon, the red and white will host a softball clinic for the Raleigh Parks & Recreation System. In addition to learning the game from the Wolfpack coaches and players, clinic participants will be allowed free admission for tournament games.
The Wolfpack Invitational will mark NC State's only competition before the beginning of the regular season. The 2006 Pack edition won 50 games, collected both the ACC regular season and tournament championships, and made the NCAA Tournament field in just its third year of existence.
