Barringer Wins Singles Title, Petrovic Defeats Ranked Foe

The final fall tournament for the Wolfpack wrapped up on Sunday, as Neils Barringer was one of four NC State women’s tennis players to compete in a final at the Southern Intercollegiate. She didn’t waste the opportunity as she won three matches on Sunday for the title, including a three set marathon in the final with a win over Christyn Lucas of South Carolina, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Daria Petrovic faced off against host South Carolina’s Gira Schofield in the semifinal of the Flight A-1 Draw and advanced over the talented opponent before falling in the finals. Schofield was ranked No. 39 in the final ITA rankings last season as Petrovic picked up an impressive win in the fall tournament.
Kristen Bleakley made it to the finals of the B-2 Singles Draw while losing just 10 games in three matches before falling in the final, 6-2, 6-0.
Lauren Barry competed in the C-3 Singles draw and made it to the finals of that flight before falling to Nicole Lemmerer of Coastal Carolina.
