W. Tennis Back on Track at Southern Intercollegiate

The NC State women’s tennis team won all seven singles matches on Saturday at the Southern Intercollegiate in Columbia, S.C. In addition, three doubles tandems advanced to the finals of the consolation brackets of the draws, and a fourth finished third in its draw to cap a successful second day at the tournament hosted by South Carolina.
In singles, freshman Daria Petrovic and Berkeley Brock advanced in three-set matches in the top draw, the A-1 Singles Flight. Petrovic defeated her opponent from South Carolina St. after losing the first set, 6-1. The young Wolfpacker rallied back to win the second set, 7-5, before closing out the match with an impressive final set, 6-2. Brock continued to shine this fall, as she won her opening match in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
In the A-2 Singles Flight, junior Julia Roach and sophomore Alejandra Guerra both won in straight sets. Roach won, 7-5, 6-1, and Guerra took her match, 2 and 1.
Sophomore Neils Barringer blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, in the B-1 Singles Flight for the easy win.
Freshman Kristen Bleakley won, 7-5, 6-2, in her match in the B-2 Singles Flight.
Finally, senior Agustina Arechavaleta won her opening singles match in straight sets in the C-1 Singles Flight, 3 and 1.
Guerra and Petrovic advanced to the finals of the A-1 Doubles Flight with an 8-3 win. Barringer and Roach advanced in the A-2 Doubles Flight after a convincing 8-3 win of their own.
Arechavaleta and Bleakely finished third in the B-1 doubles draw after winning their opening match and then falling, 8-0. The rebounded with a 8-5 win in the third place bracket.
Play wraps up on Sunday in Columbia, S.C.
