Freshmen Sarah Merritt and Anna Linkenauger, sophomore Lucy Lindsey and senior co-captain Lindsay Barwegen each won two events to lead the charge, though only Lindsey was a member of the "Red" team which came up short on the evening.
Barwegen won the 500 free and the 200 fly, Merritt took the 200 breast and 100 breast, Linkenauger won the 200 back and the 200 IM and Lindsey won the 200 free and the 100 free.
Senior Melissa Jamerino won the 50 free and Erica Smith won the 100 back.
The comedic highlight for the women's team (the men also had a funny moment, check their page for more) was turned in by freshman Patrice Dason. Dason was late to the starting blocks, and while running around the pool, slipped and fell. She was unhurt and got to the starting blocks in time for the start. She not only completed the race, but finished second. She later won the 100 fly in the second half of the meet.
Freshman diver Chelsea Ale won the 3-meter competition with a score of 125.70 as her and fellow "Red" teammate Natalie Swisher (123.00) finished 1-2 in the event.
The women's swimming and diving team will host Gardner-Webb and Campbell to open the season on Friday, Oct. 20 at
