Wolfpack Tennis Completes Residence Inn North Invite

After a strong start and successful second day, the Wolfpack women’s tennis team continued to roll into the final day of the event. Early in the morning, a pair of Wolfpackers faced off in a match to decide third place of the A2 singles bracket, a precursor to the theme the rest of the day. Both finalists in the flight A3 and flight A4 brackets were Wolfpack players, and Daria Petrovic played in the final of the flight A1 bracket.
Petrovic battled in her championship match against Beatrice Grasu of Richmond. Petrovic took the first set 7-5 then battled with Grasu for a second set tiebreak. Petrovic left little doubt about the outcome of the match as she stormed through the tiebreak and won 7-0 for the title.Alejandra Guerra won third place in the flight A2 bracket with a 7-5, 6-0 win over her teammate, Neils Barringer.
Berkley Brock and Julia Roach faced each other in the final of the flight A3 title, with the freshman Brock winning 6-1, 6-1. Brock had an outstanding tournament, losing just three games in three matches. Brock also teamed with fellow freshman Kristen Bleakley to win the flight A2 doubles title.
Bleakley and Agustina Arechavaleta faced each other in the finals of the flight A4 singles draw, with the younger Bleakley holding off the aggressive Arechavaleta, 4 and 4.Allison Barry played in the flight C2 bracket for third place, defeating Monica Tomas of Appalachian St. in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1.
Her twin sister, Lauren, lost in the final of the flight D1 singles bracket Sunday morning, 6-3, 6-3 after a strong run through the draw.
