RALEIGH, N.C. - Jeremy Colbert and Jeremy Hartrum recorded pins as the Wolfpack defeated Gardner-Webb 22-18 in the final match of the NC State Duals, Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack, which won two of three bouts in the Duals, improved to 6-1 in dual-match competition.
G-W took a 6-3 lead after three bouts, but Rick Brownlee picked up a major decision over Chad Davis at 174 and Colbert pinned Brandon Beach at 184 to give the Wolfpack a 13-6 advantage. The Pack forfeited at 197 to pull G-W back to within a point at 13-12, but Jainor Palma beat Brandon Schweitzer 5-1 and Hartrum pinned Cortney Roberts to make it 22-12 with two bouts remaining. Josh Pniewski decisioned Jeff Breese at 133 to make it 22-15 with one bout remaining, which locked the team score for NC State. Josh Pniewski and Anthony Renteria won decisions at 133 and 141, respectively, in the final two bouts.
