MOBILE, Ala. - Three NC State stars - tight end T.J. Williams, defensive end Manny Lawson and defensive back Marcus Hudson -- are among the 100 top senior NFL draft prospects who are participating in the 2006 Senior Bowl this week in Mobile, Alabama. The three Wolfpack stars are members of the Senior Bowl's South squad, which is being coached by San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan and his staff.
The players will have one practice session per day during the week, capped off by the 57th annual Senior Bowl game on Saturday, January 28. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. and the contest will be nationally-televised by ESPN.
The Scout.com website was on hand Monday afternoon to assess some of the talent at practice, with Lawson garnering the following praise: "The most athletic player along the defensive front here in Mobile ... Explosive off the line. Does a great job getting across the face of lineman on all downblocks which leads him to make more than his share of plays in the running game. Uses his hands effectively..."
Hudson was described as a player who "sticks to his man tight and is very physical at the line. Displays a nice smooth backpedal and transition."
Williams didn't get many opportunities in the passing game during the first day of practice, according to Scout.com.
Senior Bowl practices are also attended by over 700 NFL general managers, head coaches, scouts and other front office personnel each year.
The Senior Bowl is also a non-profit, charity event that, together with its charitable partner Food World, distributed over $1.2 million to charities in 2005.

Former NC State linebacker Oliver Hoyte was in action this past week in the 81st annual East-West Shrine Game, in which the West squad won 35-21.
Hudson previously played in the 2006 Hula Bowl over the weekend, with his East squad winning a tight game, 10-7, in Hawaii.
