RALEIGH, N.C. - Dana Sorensen has been named as a volunteer assistant and will work with the Wolfpack softball pitching staff. Sorensen, a standout collegiate and professional pitcher from San Diego, California, will assist the Wolfpack staff in working directly with the pitching staff, including All-ACC and All-Region standout Abbie Sims.
"I think Dana will fit in nicely and be able to help with the championship mentality of our pitching staff," said head coach Lisa Navas.
Sorensen pitches for the USA Elite team and professionally with the Arizona Heat this summer. She played collegiately at Stanford, where she helped the Cardinal to berths in the College World Series in 2001 and 2004. A three-time All-America selection, she graduated as the Cardinal's career leader in strikeouts, wins, innings pitched and ERA.
"I look forward to having Dana on staff, I am glad we could work it out with her degree program," stated Navas. "I have worked camps with her over the past few years, and I'm glad she is now at NC State."
A native of San Diego, she is enrolled in the sport management graduate program at North Carolina, working toward a master's degree.
