Three Make Cut At North-South

PINEHURST, N.C. - Three members of the NC State men's golf team made the 64-person cut at the North and South Amateur Championship Tuesday at Pinehurst. Garry Hill, a rising junior from Johannesburg, South Africa, tied for 23rd place at even par. Stephen Lewton, a rising senior from Milton Keynes, England, tied for 54th place at four-over. Banks Wood, a rising senior from Charlotte, N.C., also tied for 54th place at four-over as well.
The first round of stroke play was at the par-72 Course No. 8 and the second round was played at the par-71 Course No. 2. Wood, the No. 64 seed in match play will face No. 32 Greg Earnhardt Wednesday in the first round, Lewton, seeded No. 55, matches up with No. 23 Sean Moore and Hill, the No. 31 seed, takes on No. 63 Matthew Hammond.
Taylor Crosby, another rising senior for the Wolfpack, shot par in the first round of stroke play and finished four-over, in the same 14-way tie for 54th place with Lewton and Wood. However, Crosby lost the playoff for the cut. Andrew Byrd, a rising sophomore for the Pack, missed the cut, as did incoming freshman Nathan Spoon.
