Clark Ties For 23rd At British Open

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland - Former NC State golfer and PGA Tour member Tim Clark finished four strokes under-par at the British Open July 14-17 to tie for 23rd place and earn $56,933. With scores of 71-69-70-74, Clark finished 10 strokes behind the winner, Tiger Woods, on the Old Course at St. Andrews.
Going into The Open, Clark was ranked sixth in the President's Cup International Team standings. The South Africa native was a Captain's Choice selection onto the International Team at the 2003 President's Cup, played in Clark's homeland. The 2005 President's Cup will be played September 20-25 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County, Va. With his continued strong play this season, Clark is in position to earn an automatic bid for the squad this year.
Clark is ranked 17th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 23rd on the PGA Money List with $1,506,666 earned this season through 16 events. Clark won the Barclays Scottish Open on the European Tour just the week before the British Open. The win at the Scottish Open was his second international victory of the season. He won the South African Airways Open in January and then travelled 30 hours to catch up with the PGA Tour across the globe in Palm Springs, Calif., where he tied for second at AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Just last month, Clark tied for third place at the U.S. Open.
