Barragan Named Women's Tennis Head Coach at Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Francie Barragan, a Wolfpack women's tennis standout from 1997-2000, has been tabbed as the new women's tennis head coach at Methodist University. A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Barragan was officially appointed on Monday by Methodist Athletics Director Bob McEvoy.
During her career at NC State, Barragan helped lead the Wolfpack to a third-place finish in the ACC and a berth in the NCAA Division I Tournament for women's tennis in 1998. She served as team captain during her senior season, and was nominated for the NCAA Sportsperson of the Year by the NC State Department of Athletics in 1999.
Individually, Barragan played No. 1 singles for the Wolfpack under coaches Jenny Sell Garrity and Kay Louthian. Academically, she was elected to the Dean's List, as well as, the ACC Academic Honor Roll during all four years.
Barragan earned her bachelor of science degree in business management and marketing from NC State in 2000, and her master's degree in parks, recreation and tourism management from NC State in 2001. While in graduate school, Barragan served one season as a graduate assistant coach under Louthian.
