SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Julia Lucas, a sophomore distance runner on the NC State women's track & field team, ran a 16:47.04 in the finals of the 5,000m late Saturday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She finished in eighth place, earning All-America honors.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Lucas joins teammate Ebony Foster, who finished fourth in the 100m hurdles on Friday to earn All-America honors, and Andy Smith from the men's squad, who took third place in the steeplechase Friday night, becoming a three-time All-American in the event.
The Wolfpack tied for 44th place of 71 women's teams in the NCAA Outdoor Championships and the men tied for 37th of 71. NC State returns to action June 23-26, when Smith, Lucas and Foster will compete at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships presented by Visa in Carson, Calif.
