NCAA Women's Golf Diary Entry 1: Lauren Harling
Hi Pack Fans!
My name is Nancy Mountcastle and I am the lone sophomore on the squad.
Today was supposed to be our practice round, but we had some troubles with the weather. The five of us began practicing before teeing off, but we had to stop due to thunder and lightning. We had an hour and a half rain delay before being allowed to play 5 holes, when we were called off the golf course again. At this time, Coach took us out for lunch at McAlister's. We had to be back at the golf course at 2:15 for another announcement about the weather and the condition of the course. The officials told us the golf course, as well as the practice facility, were closed, so we walked the rest of the 18 holes, taking notes and noticing different details about the course. It continued to rain, but we survived!
The team had a great dinner at a local Japanese steakhouse before attending the rules meeting at the University of Florida football stadium. Personally, I think our stadium is nicer!!
I can't wait to begin play tomorrow - we have all been working very hard this year and I think we are confident about the next few days. I am excited about the tournament and playing in such a strong field...with the stakes so high. We begin play tomorrow at 8:40!
Molly will be writing tomorrow's entry after our first round!
GO PACK!!!
Nancy
