Foster Wins Hurdles, Qualifies For NCAA Championships

NEW YORK - NEW YORK - Andy Smith won the 3,000m steeplechase Saturday evening at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Regional Championships, with a school record-breaking time of 8:33.25 and qualfiying for the NCAA Championships June 8-10 in Sacramento, Calif. Also qualifying for the NCAA Championships are Ebony Foster and Kristina Roth.
Foster won the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.17 and Kristina Roth finished third in the women's steeplechase with a time of 10:15.11. Michael Hill finished 11th in the triple jump with a career-best leap of 50-0 3/4. Kelly Smoke placed 11th in the discus throw with a mark of 151-11 and Eric Hoverstad cleared 16-1 1/4 in the pole vault to tie for 12th place.
Smith and Foster join Julia Lucas, who placed third in the 5,000m yesterday, as Wolfpack qualifiers. Wesley Smith, Dexer Adams, and Renee Gunning all posted top-8 finishes and await at-large bids. Complete results from the NCAA Regional Championships are available at www.ncaasports.com.
