The NC State women's golf team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA East Regional Championship Monday afternoon. In only its fifth year of competition since the program was reinstated following a 15-year layoff, the Wolfpack will be making its fourth straight trip to the NCAA regionals.
Held May 5-7 at the University of Florida Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla., the NCAA East Regional Championship is a three-day, 54-hole tournament featuring 21 teams and three individuals. The top eight teams, plus the top two individuals not on those teams, will advance to the NCAA Championship May 17-19 at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.
NC State, the 11-seed at the East Regional, will face familiar ACC foes Duke, Virginia and Miami. The top seven seeded teams at the East Regional are ranked in the top-20 and will make for stiff competition to finish in the top eight that weekend.
