GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State's Andy Smith was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, while Chaunte Howard of Georgia Tech and Miami's Kimberli Barrett were honored on the women's side.

Smith was the first college-athlete to cross the finish line in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif., with the nation's second-fastest time this season and ACC best, 8:36.70. The senior from Hudson, Ohio ran the event for the first time since finishing as the runner-up at the 2004 NCAA Championships, meeting the 2005 NCAA Regional qualifying standards in the event.
