NC State Bounces Back In Final Round Of Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The NC State men's golf team recovered from a tough second round with a seven-over-par performance in the final round of the Seminole Intercollegiate Tuesday at the par 72, 6,847-yard Golden Eagle Country Club. After sliding from second to 11th place, the Wolfpack nearly matched its six-over first round to finish 37-over and 10th place in the field of 12. Banks Wood carded a four-over total to tie for 15th place and lead the Wolfpack.
Wood led the team all three rounds, firing par the first day, three-over on day two and one-over in the final round. Also firing one-over on the final day was Jerry Richardson, who sandwiched an 81 with 73s in the first and third rounds to finish a stroke behind teammate Stephen Lewton at 11-over. Lewton shot four-over after two days of 75 to tie for 36th place. Taylor Crosby, who fired two-over in the first and third rounds, finished 13-over. Garry Hill also suffered an 81 in the second round, but bounced back to shoot three-over in the third.
Coastal Carolina won the tournament with a two-over total and Rhys Davies from East Tennessee State was the the individual medalist at nine-under, six strokes ahead of anyone else. NC State returns to action March 19-20, when it travels to Statesboro, Ga., to compete in the Chris Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club.
