No. 39 Wolfpack Men's Tennis Hosts Maryland

No. 39 NC State men's tennis (14-4, 1-2 ACC) will host the University of Maryland in an ACC showdown at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center on Monday, Mar. 21 at 2:30 p.m. The Wolfpack stands at 1-2 in the ACC after a big win over No. 30 Florida State and two losses to No. 6 Duke and a close loss to No. 24 Wake Forest. Maryland is 8-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference. NC State has defeated Maryland the last two season by scores of 6-1 in 2004 and 5-2 in 2003. NC State's William Noblitt leads the team with a 13-1 overall singles record, and a 2-1 mark in the ACC.
Nick Cavaday is 2-1 within the conference as well, after he defeated Derrick Spice of Wake Forest at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Cavaday's spring singles record stands at 11-3 on he season.
Mason Schermerhorn is 10-1 after dropping his last match against Wake Forest, and he sports a perfect 7-0 mark at No. 6 singles.
Will Shaw won an impressive match at No. 4 singles against Brett Ross of Wake Forest, winning in three sets to improve to 7-3 at the No. 4 singles slot.
Andre Iriarte fell in his last match, but holds a strong 9-4 mark overall, and Conor Taylor has won five matches at No. 1 singles this season.
NC State is still looking to come out and win a doubles point, as it has won only nine of the doubles points in the 18 matches. In fact, in the six wins over ranked teams this season for the Wolfpack, NC State has secured the doubles point in only two of the matches.
