Three to Swim for Wolfpack Women

The Wolfpack Women's Swimming team signed three swimmers to letters of intent recently. The three recruits all signed during the early signing period which ended last Wednesday. The three signees are: Patrice Dason from Knightdale, North Carolina, Sarah Merritt of Pasadena, Maryland, and Kayla Ricedorf from Mechanicsburg, Pennslyvania.
Patrice Dason is a local girl and product of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh. She is captain of the swim team at Gibbons High where she helped her team to the 2004-2005 NCISAA State Championship. She is also the North Carolina State Champion for the 100 Butterfly event and holds the state record for 15-16 year old girls in the event. She was named an All-American in the 200 Free Relay and 100 Butterfly events for the 2004-2005 year, and a member of the 2005 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American team. She qualified for the Senior Nationals for the 100 Fly and hold the 13th fastest time in the event nationally for 2005.
Sarah Merritt is a US Open qualifier for the 200 Breaststroke event and holds a 2005 Nationally ranked time of 1:05.22 in the 100 Breaststroke. She finished fifth in the 200 Breaststroke and tenth in the 100 Breaststroke at the YMCA Short Course Nationals. She hails from Chesapeake Senior High School where she is the Senior Class Vice President and a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.
Kayla Ricedorf is a Top 16 finisher at the 2005 YMCA Nationals in the 200 Individual Medley, 200 Backstroke, and 100 Backstroke. She has been on USS zone teams and been considered for All-American recognition in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley. She was a 2004 USA Swimming Scholastic all-American.
