Wolfpack Volleyball Slips 3-1 At Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - NC State suffered a 3-1 loss Sunday afternoon at Miami in ACC volleyball action. Senior middle blocker Stefani Eddins, who has the top attack percentage in the ACC, led the Wolfpack (7-21, 1-19 ACC) with 10 kills and nine blocks, but the Hurricanes (15-13, 10-10 ACC) were more than NC State could handle, taking the match 30-18, 30-20, 27-30, 30-23.
Game one was never in question as Miami, hitting .324 as a team, pushed an 8-5 lead to 20-10 before closing out the 12 point win. Despite hitting a dismal -.103 in the second game, NC State kept it close and pulled within three at 23-20, but then the Hurricanes went on a 7-0 run to finish the game.
The Wolfpack outhit Miami in game three, as NC State rallied from a 15-9 deficit to tie the score at 19-19 before trading points the rest of the way as Eddins propelled her team to victory with two kills and two blocks for four of the final five points. The Hurricanes jumped out to a commanding lead in the fourth game and NC State came within two at 22-20, but Miami closed the game with a 8-1 run.
Sophomore right side hitter Ashley Wallace led NC State with a .375 attack percentage, putting away eight kills and four blocks while senior middle blocker Adeola Kosoko added six kills, four digs and two blocks. Junior setter Lyssa Ramirez came off the bench to lead the Pack with 16 assists, to go with two kills, two blocks, two digs and one ace. Sophomore libero Andrea Bentley provided a team-high 17 digs.
NC State returns to action next weekend when the Wolfpack returns home to host Maryland on Friday, Nov. 25 and Boston College on Saturday, Nov. 26 in historic Reynolds Coliseum. Both matches will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will conclude the season for NC State.
