Cullen Jones remembers growing up in New Jersey, when he was the skinny kid swimming in the slow lane, just trying to keep up everyone else.
He isn't that guy anymore.
Now, he's a four-time ACC champion who opened eyes in the world of swimming by setting a World University Games record in the 50-meter freestyle in August in Izmir, Turkey. He set the record in a preliminary meet with a time of 22.17 seconds, then won the gold medal with a similarly impressive time of 22.22 seconds in the finals.
A senior majoring in English, Jones is entering the homestretch of his collegiate career with the Wolfpack, but he has long-range goals in international competition.
He sat down to talk about his career with GoPack.com's Tim Peeler, before he and his teammates headed to Atlanta for a meet Saturday at Georgia Tech.
