It is becoming an all too familiar, and welcome, site in the pool for NC State these days, as Molly Culberson, Jessica Koenig and Lindsay Barwegen again helped the Wolfpack women's swimming and diving team to an impressive showing. NC State sits in second place after the first day of the Terrapin Cup Invite, trailing UCONN by only eight points with two days of competition remaining in the nine team field. Barwegen won the 500 freestyle, her sixth event win of the season, with a time of 4:51.71, a NCAA `B' Cut time. Teammate Kerry Whitson finished third to add another important 17 points in the Wolfpack scorebook.
Diver Molly Culberson, who has paced the team in event wins over the last few seasons, is having another fine season in 2005. The senior won the 1-meter diving competition for her seventh win in seven attempts this season from the boards. She posted a 288.85 in taking the easy win in the prelims and finals.
Koenig again proved invaluable to the team, posting a strong top-three finish in the 200 IM, while the freshmen duo of Lucy Lindsey and Martha Marino, and junior Kerry Whitson each brought home points in the 50 freestyle.
