RALEIGH, N.C. - Florida State swept NC State 3-0 in a Saturday ACC volleyball match at Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack (6-9, 0-7 ACC) lost by scores of 30-24, 30-23, 30-28. Stefani Eddins led NC State with 10 kills, and a .320 attack percentage to go with three blocks, but the Seminoles (4-10, 2-4 ACC) put away 53 kills at a .273 percentage on the day.
The Wolfpack played most of game one without a libero after Andrea Bentley took a hard hit spike to the face early in the match. Kayla Ragan, Adeola Kosoko and Casey Wyatt did their best to make up the digs, rotating through the back row in her absence, but the Seminoles' attack percentage climbed to .348 for the game. Bentley returned in the second game and went on to lead NC State with 12 digs.
Tied 16-16 in game two, Florida State won 10 of the next 12 points as the Seminoles pulled away and never let NC State closer than four the rest of the game. The Wolfpack jumped out to an early lead in the third game and led most of the way, but the Seminoles rallied to close out the match.
Lyssa Ramirez took over at setter in the second game and led the Wolfpack with 21 assists. Kelly Higgins posted career highs in four categories with seven kills, a .235 attack percentage, eight digs and a team-best four blocks. Casey Wyatt contributed 10 kills for the Pack as well.
Kristen Rust led Florida State with 29 kills with a .379 attack percentage to go with nine digs and two blocks. Jessica Skower posted 46 assists and Summer Weissing led the Seminoles with 16 digs.
NC State returns to action next weekend when it hosts Clemson on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:00 p.m. and Georgia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 5:00 p.m. in historic Reynolds Coliseum.
