RALEIGH, N.C> - As NC State improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the ACC with an impressive 155-88 win over conference rival Virginia Tech, it would be hard to single out only one exceptional performer. Wolfpack sprinter Cullen Jones couldn't hide after his record setting day at the Casey Aquatic Center in Raleigh, N.C on Oct. 28. The senior from Irvington, N.J. set a pool record with a 19.87 in the 50 freestyle, besting his only mark set last season. The time ranks first in the ACC this season and was the first of two individual first place finishes for Jones, who has won all three individual events he has swam this season.
Jones 50 freestyle time was also a an NCAA provisional qualifying time. He also placed first in the 100 free in a time of 45.66 and anchored the 400 freestyle relay unit, helping it touch in 3:03.52, the top time on the season. His 100 free time of 45.16 against Duke last weekend ranks in the top-5 in the conference as well.
NC State's men's team (3-0, 2-0 ACC) returns to action at Georgia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 5. The women's swimming and diving team (2-1, 1-1 ACC) will also compete against the Yellow Jackets.
