Wolfpack Volleyball Upended By Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The NC State volleyball team came up short at Virginia Saturday evening, falling 3-0 at Memorial Gymnasium. Casey Wyatt led the Wolfpack (7-14, 1-12 ACC) with nine kills, but the Cavaliers (14-8, 9-4 ACC) hit a blazing .404 as a team to sweep NC State 30-18, 30-25, 30-22.
Game one was never in doubt for Virginia, as it never trailed and won by 12. The Wolfpack hung in the second game and had it tied at 20-20 before the Cavaliers went on a 10-5 run to finish. NC State hit a respectable .212 for the match, but was held to a season-low two blocks.
Starting senior middle blockers Stefani Eddins and Adeola Kosoko provided eight kills each, as Kosoko had a .333 attack percentage and five digs while Eddins hit .533. Junior setter Lyssa Ramirez came off the bench to lead the Wolfpack with 15 assists and sophomore libero Andrea Bentley posted a team best nine digs.
NC State returns to action next week when it travels to Chapel Hill, N.C. for a rematch with North Carolina on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 p.m., before returning home to take on Wake Forest on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7:00 p.m. and Duke on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1:00 p.m.
