NC State Volleyball Sinks 3-0 At Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The NC State volleyball team lost a hard-fought match to Virginia Tech Friday night 3-0 at Cassell Coliseum. Stefani Eddins led the Wolfpack (7-13, 1-11 ACC) with 12 kills, a .323 attack percentage and four blocks, but NC State couldn't finish off the Hokies (11-10, 6-6 ACC) and were swept 26-30, 26-30, 30-32.
Leading 26-20 in game one, the Wolfpack collapsed as Virginia Tech rattled off 10 straight points to win. Tied 17-17 in the second game, Sarah King served seven straight points for the Hokies and NC State never recovered. The Wolfpack traded points with Virginia Tech all throughout game three and tied 25-25, NC State gave up four straight points. With its back against the wall, the Wolfpack didn't fold and rallied to tie the score at 29-29 and even take a brief lead at 30-29, but ran out of steam as the Hokies took the game and the match.
Karlie Urbaniak contributed eight kills, while Adeola Kosoko and Aiwane Iboaya added seven each. Kosoko also had seven digs and a team-high five blocks. Melissa Rabe led the team with 34 assists to go with a career high six kills, a .333 attack percentage and five digs. Andrea Bentley provided a team best 13 digs.
The Wolfpack returns to action Saturday, when it travels to Charlottesville, Va., to take on Virginia at 5:00 p.m.
