Catching Up With Jason Jones

Jason Jones, a redshirt-freshman on the NC State men's track & field teams turned in a questionnaire to GoPack.com recently. A political science major who hails from Salisbury, N.C., Jones looks to add depth this year to the Wolfpack throws group in the shot put, 35-pound weight throw and the hammer throw. A two-time MVP of field events at East Rowan High School in Granite Quarry, N.C., Jones earned all-county and all-conference honors in the shot put as well as in football, where he played offensive line. Named the conference MVP of field events as a senior, Jones followed up a third place finish at the state championships in the shot his junior year with a runner-up finish his senior year.
GoPack: What is your nickname on the team?
JJ: Jones, Jonesy, or Big J
GoPack: What has been your favorite class taken at NC State?
JJ: I haven't had a fun one yet
GoPack: If a movie were made about you, which actor would you want to play the part of you?
JJ: Thomas Jane from The Punisher
GoPack: Why did you choose NC State?
JJ: Good school and not too far from home
GoPack: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
JJ: Lawyer
GoPack: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
JJ: Three older brothers - Brad, Erik, Brent and one older sister, Megan.
GoPack: Nobody knows how much you like to what?
JJ: Listen to music
GoPack: What has been your most embarrassing moment on the track?
JJ: Falling out of the discus ring after a throw in front of a bunch of people
GoPack: What has been your greatest accomplishment outside of track & field?
JJ: Graduating from high school
GoPack: What rituals do you have before every meet?
JJ: Listen to some hard rock to get pumped up
GoPack: Who would you most like to switch places with for a day?
JJ: Dale Earnhardt Jr.
GoPack: What are your favorite hobbies?
JJ: Lifting weights, exercising in general and playing sports

JJ: My shoes
