RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team will wrap up spring play in Columbia, S.C., this weekend Friday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 30, at the University of South Carolina Fall Invitational. Several of the nation's top teams will be competing at the event, including many nationally ranked singles players and doubles combinations. The Wolfpack have competed in four fall tournaments thus far, including both the USTA/NTC Women's College Tennis Invitational and the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships earlier in October. Senior Barbara Orlay and freshman Alejandra Guerra both lead the team with nine wins each in singles play.
In her final fall stretch, Orlay has gone 9-4 with several tough wins. Guerra has enjoyed a fruitful introductory fall, going 9-3 in solo bouts. Freshman Neils Barringer has been equally impressive, posting a 5-2 record in her debut slate. Sophomore Julia Roach, the team MVP last season, stands second on the team with eight fall singles wins and only three losses. Junior Agustina Arechavaleta's five wins place her third on the team with Barringer.
After the Wolfpack wraps up play in Columbia, head coach Hans Olsen and the women's tennis team will resume team and individual practices for the remainder of the fall in preparation for a busy and challenging spring schedule.
