The NC State volleyball team lost 3-0 Sunday afternoon to Maryland at the Comcast Center Pavilion. Stefani Eddins led the Wolfpack (7-12, 1-10 ACC) with eight kills and Karlie Urbaniak added seven kills, but the Terrapins (20-1, 11-1 ACC) shut down NC State by scores of 30-20, 30-22, 30-14.
NC State led 16-15 in the first game until Maryland went on an 11-1 run to pull away. The Wolfpack had early leads in game two as well, going up 15-11 before the Terrapins tied it at 17 and never relinquished the lead again. Game three saw Maryland jump out to a 13-5 lead and never let NC State closer than seven the rest of the way.
Senior middle blocker Adeola Kosoko led the Wolfpack with four blocks, sophomore libero Andrea Bentley provided a team high 10 digs and junior setter Melissa Rabe paced the Pack with 28 assists.
Maryland hit a red-hot .352 as a team and held NC State to a .041 team attack percentage for the match. The Wolfpack returns to action next weekend when it embarks on the second lap of its double round robin conference schedule, beginning with road matches at Virginia Tech, Oct. 28 and at Virginia, Oct. 29.
