NC State Volleyball Defeats Boston College 3-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The NC State volleyball team picked up its first ACC victory of the season Friday night with a 3-1 win at Boston College. Stefani Eddins led the Wolfpack (7-11, 1-9 ACC) with 19 kills, a .581 attack percentage and nine blocks, as NC State defeated the Eagles (6-14, 1-10 ACC) 30-27, 26-30, 30-27, 30-25 in the first-ever matchup between the two schools on the volleyball court.
Holding Boston College to a .190 attack percentage, the Wolfpack hit .230 on the night. Tied 25-25, for the tenth time in the first game, NC State went on a 5-2 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Trailing by as many as seven in game two, the Eagles came back to knot the score at 25-25 again and this time Boston College went on a 5-1 run to even the match going into the break. NC State returned to the court hitting .333 as a team in the third game and .293 in game four.
Four times the lead changed hands and nine times the score was tied in game three, with the last tie coming at 27-27. Eddins secured the go-ahead win for NC State with a block assist, a set assist and a kill for the last three points of game three. With a one point lead at 23-22, the Wolfpack seniors led a 7-2 run to capture the conference win as Eddins and Kayla Ragan had three kills between them, Casey Wyatt provided a block with Eddins, and Adeola Kosoko aced a serve in that final stretch of game four.
Kosoko chipped in 15 kills at a .375 attack percentage, nine digs, four blocks, one ace and three assists for the match, while junior setter Melissa Rabe tied a career high with 54 assists and sophomore libero Andrea Bentley led NC State with 18 digs. The Wolfpack returns to action Sunday, Oct. 23 when it travels to College Park, Md., to face league leaders Maryland in the Comcast Center Pavilion at 1:00 p.m.
