• Men and Women Travel to Clemson •
NC State men's and women's swimming and diving will travel to Clemson on Saturday, Jan. 29 for a 1 pm meet against the Tigers. For the men (3-3, 2-2), the Wolfpack will attempt to defeat the Tigers in the last road ACC contest before the ACC Championships. The men host North Carolina on Feb. 5 before travelling to Tennessee on Feb. 6 for the regular season finale. The Wolfpack women (5-4, 2-3) will look to even its ACC record against Clemson, and close out the regular season with a strong showing against Richmond.
• Women Host Richmond •
The NC State women's swimming and diving will host Richmond this Sunday, at 1 pm. The meet will be the last home meet of the season for the women after being rescheduled from Jan. 23 because of weather concerns.
• Familiar Names, Familiar Times •
The usual suspects continue to dominate in the pool for the NC State women, as Kerry Whitson, Lindsay Barwegen, Halle Kiehlmier, Laura Cutler and Jess Koenig have all secured top-times for the Wolfpack. Whitson is the current leader in the 100 free, 200 free and 500 free events, with her 200 free time of 1:51.22 ranking 10th in the ACC. Barwegen is the distance champion to this point in the season, consistently placing in the top-3 in meets throughout the year. She holds the top 1000 free and 1650 free times on the team, and her 1650 free time of 16:35.37 is fourth in the ACC.
Kiehlmier has been consistent in the breaststroke events, holding the top-time in the 100 and 200 breast. Koenig is first in the 200 IM and the 200 back on the Wolfpack.
Cutler rounds out this impressive bunch with top-times in the 200 butterfly and the 400 IM. Molly Culberson, the school record holder in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions in Wolfpack history, currently ranks fourth and third in the 1- and 3-meter competitions, respectively.
• Women Winning in Conference and Overall •
The two conference wins ties for the second most wins since 1993 in the ACC for the Wolfpack women. NC State went 3-3 in conference play in 2002 and 1994, and has won two ACC meets in each of the last two seasons. The women now have five wins on the season, matching last year's total with two meet remaining. With a win against Clemson or Richmond, NC State will have six wins on the season, matching Teal's best NC State women's mark (6-7 in 2003 and 6-5 in 2001).
• Men Positioned For ACC Run •
With two conference meets and a road meet with Tennessee left on the docket, the men's swimming team is poised to make waves the rest of the season and into the ACC Championship. Six different swimmers have ten individual times in the ACC top-times in eight different events. In addition, the 400 medley relay team and the 200 freestyle relay team are both ranked in the top-four in the league.
