RALEIGH, N.C. -
In addition to the improving facilities within the NC State tennis camp, women's head coach Hans Olsen has seen another boost to his program; players excelling in the class room.
This past week, Coach Olsen learned that last season's squad has been selected by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as an ITA All-Academic Team, with a total team GPA of 3.483 for the past academic year. In addition to the team award, Jennifer Jassawalla, Taylor Parker, Allison Barry, Lauren Barry, Virginia Romero, Agustina Arechavaleta, and Nandita Chandrasekar were named scholar athletes by the ITA. Those student-athletes, with the addition of Danielle Stadelmann, were also named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
"This is just a testament to how hard these student-athletes are working," said Coach Hans Olsen. "It's one thing to be an athlete while you are in school, but to excel in the classroom on top of that is just completely commendable. These recent achievements really say a lot about this team's goals and their work ethic."
This coming season, the Wolfpack will continue to work towards becoming a national competitor. With the opening of the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex, as well as four returning seniors to guide the team, NC State is counting on making this season a memorable one. If their work ethic in the classroom is any indication of things to come on the court, the Wolfpack will have plenty to celebrate.
