Wolfpack Softball Holds Banquet to Honor Inaugural Season

Raleigh, N.C. - NC State head softball coach Lisa Navas and assistant Pat Conlan honored their team, the players and the support staff for a successful inaugural season at a banquet Sunday afternoon in the Talley Student Center. In addition to the individual awards, the Wolfpack's team captain was announced with senior Lee Hasper accepting the role.
Abbie Sims and Jen Chamberlin shared the first MVP award in program history, with Sims leading the team in wins and ERA, while Chamberlin led the team in slugging and in homeruns.
The Offensive Award for highest batting average went to Heather Gelbard, as the infielder led all Wolfpack players with a .315 average.
The Golden Glove Award for position players went to Miranda Ervin, while the extra effort and mental toughness award went to her sister, Shaina.
The Strength and Conditioning Award went to LaCroix, with Wolfpack strength coach Wright Wayne on hand to present the award to the sophomore shortstop. A Coaches' Award went to outfielders Caroline Blount and Beth Poore.
The Will To Win Award went to Miranda Ervin for putting a win first attitude and showing that extra effort throughout the year.
