Men's Golf Selected To NCAA Regionals

NC State was selected to the NCAA Men's Golf Tournament Monday evening. The Wolfpack will be one of 28 teams competing at the East Regional, which will be played May 20-22 at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Conn. The top 10 teams and two individuals from each of the three regionals will advance to the NCAA Championship, June 1-4.
The Wolfpack, which finished fourth at the ACC Championship in its last time out, shot 10-under-par, placing three in the top 10 individually. Garry Hill, a freshman from Johannasburg, South Africa., led the way, tying for seventh place with a five-under total. Fernando Mechereffe, a senior from Pelotas, Brazil, leads the squad with a 72.7 stroke average and earned All-ACC honors last week.
The NC State men's golf program will be making its 14th trip (seventh consecutive) to the NCAA Regionals, all under the direction of head coach Richard Sykes. The Wolfpack finished third at last year's NCAA Regional, advanced to the NCAA Championship (for the third straight season), where it took 15th. NC State will be joined at the East Regional by ACC foes Clemson, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Duke, North Carolina and Maryland.
