RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team has re-entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) ranking at No. 71 this week, after a No. 75 ranking earlier in the year. The Wolfpack are coming off a couple of strong performances as of late, defeating Richmond 5-1 and UNC Greensboro 6-1.
Helping to lead the team this season are sophomore Nandita Chandrasekar (10-5) and senior Jennifer Jassawalla (9-6). In addition, sophomore Barbara Orlay, recently named No. 61 in the nation by the ITA, is boasting an impressive 8-6 record, including a win over No. 7 Amanda Johnson from Duke University.
As a team, NC State is 48-42 in singles competition, and 20-25 in doubles. The Wolfpack have matches remaining against No. 27 Wake Forest, No. 56 Maryland, and No. 58 Virginia before beginning play in the ACC women's tennis tournament. All three matches will take place at NC State.
The Wolfpack women's tennis squad will square off against ACC rival No. 27 Wake Forest at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will take place at the Varsity Courts on NC State campus and admission is free.
