Barbara Orlay Ranked No. 61 Nationally

RALEIGH, N.C. - Sophomore Barbara Orlay of the NC State women's tennis team is ranked No. 61 nationally according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. Thus far, Orlay has posted a record of 8-6 overall, playing to 6-6 at the No. 1 singles seed, and 2-0 at the No. 2 spot. Orlay also stands at 2-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, with an impressive win over No. 7 Amanda Johnson from Duke University in three sets. Orlay got off to an incredible start this season, winning four of her first six matches.
A native of Budapest, Hungary, Orlay was the national champion of the Hungarian circuit in 2002. In the 2002-2003 season, Orlay was recognized as the Big South Player of the Year while at Charleston Southern and earned a spot on the all-conference team for singles and doubles competition. During the year she was ranked as high as No. 45 in ITA singles rankings. In the fall of 2003, Orlay automatically qualified for the Southeast ITA Regional and advanced to the quaterfinals of the Old Point ITA Invitational.
Orlay and the women's tennis team will return to action today against No. 27 Wake Forest at 2:30 p.m. The match will take place at the Varsity Courts on NC State campus and admission is free.
