
Wolfpack Places Fourth At ACC Championship

NEW LONDON, N.C. - The NC State men's golf team shot even par in the third and final round of the ACC Championship at the par-72, 7,102-yard Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point. The Wolfpack finished fourth out of nine teams with a 10-under-par total of 854. Garry Hill, Stephen Lewton and Jerry Richardson led the team with under-par totals for the tournament and all recording top-10 finishes.
Hill followed up his second round 67 with a two-under-par 70 in the final round to finish five under and tied for seventh. Lewton shot two-over in the final round to end up tied for ninth at four under. Richardson also tied for ninth at four under after carding a 69 on the final 18 holes. The freshman birdied five holes Sunday. Fernando Mechereffe was three over in the final round to tie for 25th at three-over. Wesley Horne birdied four holes in the final round to come in three-over and tie for 34th with a seven-over total.
Clemson won the ACC Championship with a 27-under final score. Sean Moore from Wake Forest was the individual medalist with an 11-under total. The Wolfpack awaits a bid to the NCAA Regional Championships May 20-22. Complete results from the ACC Championship are available at www.theacc.com.
