Track Gets Last Chance to Qualify

Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State track and field team had one last weekend to capture qualifying times for next weekend's NCAA Tournament, and the Pack took advantage. The squad split between the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet and the Florida Fast Times. NC State came away with two school records, one NCAA Automatic, and eight NCAA Provisional Marks.
Monterrio Adams recorded his first NCAA Provisional time of the season in the 400 meters, and he ran a 47.39 to win at Virginia Tech. Also at Virginia Tech, James Rowell improved upon a NCAA Provisional mark he already set in the weight throw. Rowell was second with a toss a 20.21 meters. Also earning his first NCAA Provisional time was Wesley Smith in the 3,000 meters. Smith won that race at Florida with a time of 8:07.13.
Kristin Price set a new school record in the 3,000 meters, and in the process notched a NCAA Automatic time in winning the race in 9:09.41. Also in the 5,000 meters, Julia Lucas notched a NCAA Provisional time of 9:24.91. Also at Florida, two Pack runners notched NCAA Provisional times in the 3,000 meters. Renee Gunning won the 3,000 meters with a time of 16:17.71, just two seconds away from a NCAA Automatic time. Lucinda Hull also ran a NCAA Provisional time in the 3,000 meters, running a 16:40.00.
Ebony Foster set her own school record as well, in addition she brought home two NCAA Provisional marks in winning both of her races at Virginia Tech. Foster set a new school record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.11, and also notched a NCAA Provisional time in the 60 hurdles (8.25).
